Second Wind is a small farm nestled in the shadow of Oldrag mountain in Rappahannock County. Our goal is to produce the finest pork, lamb, chicken and eggs by paying close attention to the smallest details of farming.
Our farming knowledge began many years ago at Iowa State University Department of Animal Science, where at that time the practice of animal husbandry dealt with the natural, and pasture raised methods of growing livestock. Raising livestock where they can exercise, be exposed to natural sunlight and enjoy their freedom is the way animals thrive and grow. For us, anything less is unacceptable.
Our farm is the home of registered Nubian goats that produce the most delicious and sweetest milk. The pigs are the oldest heritage breed- Berkshires and our eggs are from pastured hens that get the left over goats milk and cheese, as well as fresh grass and organic garden trimmings.
